During my last job transition, I knew that I was looking for something but I wasn't sure exactly what it was. I decided to take calls with every recruiter and connect with people at every company that looked interesting. After a few weeks, interviewing became a full-time job. Although this was exhausting, I'd recommend it to anyone — It helped me identify my priorities and gave me some direction. I realized that I was looking for a new challenge; a place where I could grow and take my skills to the next level. After I met the team at Doppler, I knew I was in the right place.

When I asked what they were building, they lit up immediately. This was a talented group of people who were genuinely energized and excited about the platform they were developing.

During my interviews, I quickly learned:

  • Every member of the team brings different strengths and values each other's roles.
  • The company has a clear direction forward and everyone knows what needs to be done to reach their goals.
  • The team is highly invested in the quality of the product.

I could tell that the team's values were clearly aligned with my own.

It's easy to get caught up in a company's mission statement and core values. There's quite a big difference between throwing together some inspirational corporate messaging and building a true company culture. The values at Doppler aren't derived from some document; they're built by our team and upheld by the way we work and interact with each other. They represent the things that are important to us and how we want Doppler to operate.

Honesty and Transparency. Much easier said than done, providing your teammates with honest feedback is critical to building an amazing product. At Doppler, we trust each other to provide kind, honest feedback in all areas and at all levels of the company. We're able to move past problems quickly with the knowledge that everyone at Doppler will give (and receive) constructive feedback.

Security as a Feature. At some organizations, the relationship between the security team and other teams can be adversarial — it doesn't need to be that way. At Doppler, everyone is on the security team; it's core to everything we do. As a result, there's also a mutual understanding that the product needs to get built. We all do our part to keep Doppler secure and if there are security considerations, we all work together to find optimal solutions.

We Practice What We Preach. Many of us at Doppler are developers ourselves, so we're always thinking about ways we can improve the product and we use Doppler to store our own secrets. Before building new features and establishing new recommendations, we always consider "would we use this at Doppler?"

As more businesses move from "X companies" to "tech companies that do X", we'll continue to see more growth in engineering teams. At Doppler, our mission is to provide teams with tools to build their software securely. It drives all of us here to know that we're helping to establish secure engineering practices with tools that devs actually enjoy using.

We've built the team around our mission and it shows. Every day, I'm inspired by the drive that my teammates bring to work and I'm humbled by their skills and backgrounds.

Doppler is a truly unique workplace, built and run by the amazing people who work here. I've never been a part of such a passionate, supportive, and capable team. If you're looking for your next challenge, come join us at Doppler.

Stay up to date with new platform releases and get to know the team of experts behind them.
